Elderly woman hit by bicyclist on Renton trail dies of injuries
RENTON, Wash. – An elderly Renton woman who was hit by a bicyclist on the Cedar River Trail on Sunday has died.
Police say the 83-year-old woman was walking eastbound on the Cedar River Trail about a quarter mile east of I-405 at about 4:45 p.m. and two bicycle riders were also travelling eastbound behind her and off to her left side.
Police say as the bicycles began to pass the woman, she stepped in front of them and was struck by one of the bicycles.
The cyclist and the woman both fell down. The 57-year-old male bicycle rider was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The pedestrian was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition with head injuries. She died on Monday.
The Renton Police Department Traffic Division is investigating.
